The Cat People

When we first visited Muffin and his family, he was having a little trouble with peeing outside the litter box. Living with his feline siblings Rosie and Peanut, as well as two dogs, Holly and Buddy, Muffin’s furever home was busy and full of activity. With some simple adjustments—changing the litter box location, cleaning the area, adding positive reinforcement, and incorporating routine play—Muffin quickly got back on track and began using his litter box reliably.

A Move and a Fresh Start

The family recently moved to a new home, which meant cat-proofing several areas to ensure the safety and happiness of all their furry friends. Previously, they used invisible grilles, but the vertical rods looked harsh and prison-like. The new living room had a huge planter area, which became the perfect haven for the cats.

We advised adding decking on the planter so the cats could lounge safely, with a safety net installed along the perimeter. On either end of the balcony wall, we added shelves, and a short cat post tree was positioned to lead the cats safely onto the balcony. Other room windows were also secured, including one with a ledge for the cats to perch and watch for their humans’ return.

Cozy, Safe, and Happy

The transition to the new home went smoothly. The cats adapted quickly to their new vertical territory, and even the dogs are enjoying the spacious living room balcony alongside them. With abundant cozy spots, vertical perches, and safe outdoor spaces, every furry friend has their own nook to relax, play, and explore.

The result? A home filled with coziness, joy, and love radiating from every corner. With all spaces secured, the cats can roam freely and safely, while the humans enjoy watching their family flourish together. Even the pawrents are over the moon!

Muffin and his companions remind us that a little thoughtful design, patience, and enrichment can make all the difference in creating a happy, harmonious multi-pet household.
